The Department of Neurosurgery at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an Assistant Professor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track. Expertise is required in the specific area of stereotactic and functional neurosurgery, including the surgical treatment of pain disorders, neuromodulation-based therapies, deep brain stimulation, and related stereotactic procedures. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Preferred applicant must be board certified or board eligible in Neurosurgery.
Teaching responsibilities may include participation in the clinical education of medical students, residents, and fellows within the Department of Neurosurgery.
Clinical responsibilities may include the full spectrum of stereotactic and functional neurosurgical procedures, with particular emphasis on pain surgery, neuromodulation therapies, and deep brain stimulation, within a high-volume academic practice.
Research or scholarship responsibilities may include the development of an independent, federally funded research program aligned with the candidate's clinical expertise and the broader research mission of the Department and the University of Pennsylvania. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in and develop translational and clinical research initiatives in neuromodulation and circuit-based therapies.
The Division of Stereotactic and Functional Neurosurgery at Penn is a nationally recognized program performing a high volume of neuromodulation and stereotactic procedures each year, with active clinical and translational research initiatives focused on circuit-based therapies for neurological and psychiatric disease.
Faculty in the division collaborate closely with investigators across Penn's neuroscience community, providing a highly collaborative environment for clinical innovation and translational discovery.
