Assistant Project Scientist position in the Neuroscience Research Institute

Salary: Based on UCSB Project Scientist series salary table

Position Description:
A position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Kenneth Kosik to conduct research involving rodent models of tau pathology and treatment with various compounds, analysis of brain tissue for pathological features, biochemical analysis of brain tissue, high resolution microscopy, knowledge of brain anatomy, extensive use of cell culture models and live imaging of cells, and single cell RNA sequencing. The appointee will be expected to make significant, original, and creative contributions to the research project, write papers and grant proposals, work together with other team members and communicate with external collaborators.

Basic qualifications:
A doctoral degree in neuroscience/cell biology/biochemistry or related field is required, along with a minimum of 2 years of post-doctoral experience in neuroscience research.

Preferred qualifications:
A very solid research and publication record at the pre- and postdoctoral level. Experience with bioinformatics and computer programming and statistics.

Initial appointment is for one year, full time with benefits with the intention to extend the appointment beyond this period based on performance.
