Anesthesiologist in Neurocritical Care - Assistant Professor

The Department of Anesthesiology and Critical Care at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for several Assistant Professor positions in the non-tenure academic clinician track. Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. ABA certification in anesthesiology and neurocritical care or status as a candidate in the examination system along with ability to obtain a Pennsylvania license are required. Candidates should have completed a fellowship in neurocritical care prior to the proposed start date.
Teaching responsibilities may include the instruction of medical students, residents, and fellows rotating through the operating rooms and wards of the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania (HUP) and the Penn Presbyterian Medical Center (PPMC) as well as participation in lectures, small groups, workshops, and/or simulation sessions.
Clinical responsibilities may include the provision of clinical anesthesia, with a focus on neuroanesthesia, at HUP and PPMC as well as the provision of neurocritical care and/or general surgical critical care in the intensive care units of HUP, PPMC, and/or Pennsylvania Hospital.
The University of Pennsylvania hosts the largest neurocritical care fellowship in the United States. This role is an exciting opportunity to work with a large, diverse patient population while dividing clinical time between providing care in neurocritical care and general anesthesia. The academic clinician track emphasizes clinical and teaching excellence.
