JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Psychological and Cognitive Sciences Program within the Department of Social Science and Policy Studies (SSPS) at Worcester Polytechnic Institute seeks a fulltime tenure-track faculty member at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor in Neuroscience to begin August 2022.

The ideal candidate should have a Ph.D. in psychology, neuroscience (including cognitive, behavioral, social, clinical, and computational neuroscience), or a related field or should expect to complete their degree before Fall 2022. While the area of specialty is open, we are particularly interested in candidates who conduct research with human participants and could develop our program in the areas of mental health or could complement our current expertise in social, cognitive, health, and/or learning.

The successful candidate will also teach introductory and more advanced undergraduate courses in the Psychological and Cognitive Sciences Program based on their area(s) of expertise (e.g., Introduction to Psychological Science, Neuroscience), as well as graduate courses in WPI's Neuroscience graduate program. We are particularly eager for candidates who can advise undergraduate and graduate research projects, enthusiastically participate in academic and research advising, collaborate with others, engage in open science practices, and develop a develop a robust, high-impact program of research that incorporates external funding.

The Psychological and Cognitive Sciences Program (www.wpi.edu/+psy) offers an undergraduate major with concentrations in Psychobiology and Diversity Science, a minor, and contributes to graduate programs in neuroscience and learning science. The program is within the SSPS department (www.wpi.edu/+ssps) which has interdisciplinary faculty in economics, environmental studies, law and technology, psychology, public policy, and system dynamics. The Neuroscience program (www.wpi.edu/+neuroscience) is an interdisciplinary program that offers a master's degree in neuroscience. WPI is home to the newly established Practice Point healthcare development and testing hub which houses our state-of-the-art Neurotech suite. This collaborative space contains various imaging equipment including for fMRI, EEG, eye tracking, fNIRS, and VR. The suite facilitates effective collaboration to accelerate experimental design and data collection, analysis, and interpretation, enhancing our understanding of neural mechanisms, biomarkers, pathologies, and interventions.
